Position: Nutrition Services Aide / Cook

As part of the Nutrition Services Department, you will play an important role in ensuring all dining needs are met in a safe, timely, and compassionate manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Understand and use the department’s communication systems.
Prepare meal counts and food according to posted menus and standardized recipes.
Meet all established meal schedules.
Prepare special and therapeutic diets according to guidelines and ensure correct diet implementation.
Prepare food in a sanitary manner using proper food handling techniques.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Follow posted procedures for safe operation and care of kitchen equipment.
Complete assigned cleaning duties and assist with opening and closing the cash register and department as needed.
Comply with long-term care regulations and written dietary policies and procedures.
Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and properly storing food and supplies.
Report food, supply, and equipment needs to the Nutrition Services Manager.
Communicate and cooperate effectively with staff, residents, patients, and their families.
Understand procedures for receiving inventory when orders are mispicked or shorted, including sourcing products from alternate vendors.
Manage the department in the absence of the Nutrition Services Manager.
Visit patients on self-select diets to assist with menu selection and order placement.
Work scheduled shifts as directed by the Nutrition Services Manager.
Report incidents to the manager upon their return to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
PM Cook: Prepare the café and kitchen areas for the arrival of the morning kitchen crew.
AM Cook: Prepare café food for trays or hot food tables according to the menu for the PM cook.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
